Privacy Policy
Effective October 31, 2026
Campsemble is a camping discovery and group trip-planning app. This policy explains what the app collects, why, who helps us process it and how you can delete it. Plain version: we collect what's needed to find campsites and plan trips with the people you invite. We don't sell your data or show ads, and we don't share your rig or location with anyone you haven't invited.
What you can do without an account
Searching for campgrounds, saving favorites and saving your rig work without signing in. Favorites and rigs stay on your phone. When you search near a place or use "Use my location", the town or coordinates are sent to our server only to run that search, and we don't keep a history of your searches.
What we collect when you create an account
| Data | Why | Who can see it |
|---|---|---|
| Email address | To sign you in with a one-time code | Only you (and our sign-in provider) |
| Handle, name, optional photo | So people you camp with can find and invite you | Anyone signed in can find you by handle or name, unless you turn off "Let people find me" |
| Home base (a town, plus a location rounded to about 1 km) | Default starting point for trips | Only the town is shown, and only to members of trips you've joined. The rounded location is never shown to other people. |
| Rigs you choose to bring on a trip (type, height, length, width, trailer) | To check which campsites fit the group | Members of that trip, after you accept the invite |
| Trips, invites, shared favorites and comments | Group planning | Members of that trip |
| Plan status (free or Pro) | To unlock organizer features | Only you |
Trip ideas (AI)
If you use AI trip ideas, which are invite-only during the beta, the text of your trip request is sent to an AI provider to generate suggestions. Don't include anything in a trip request that you wouldn't want processed this way.
Services that process data for us
- Supabase: account sign-in and database.
- Render: hosts our server.
- Resend: delivers sign-in code emails.
- Expo: delivers app updates.
- Campground data sources (Recreation.gov, National Park Service, US Forest Service, OpenStreetMap and others): receive the search area our server asks about, never your account details.
- Maps: map views use Apple Maps (iPhone) or Google Maps (Android) under their own terms. "Get directions" opens the navigation app you pick.
- AI provider: only for AI trip ideas, as described above.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or rent your personal information.
- We don't use advertising trackers.
- We don't track your location in the background. The app asks for location only when you tap "Use my location".
- We don't share your exact location with other users.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep account data while your account is active. To delete your account and everything tied to it, email [email protected] from the address you sign in with. We'll confirm and delete it within 30 days. Data on your phone (local favorites and rigs) is removed when you delete the app.
Children
Campsemble isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Access is restricted per user and per trip in the database itself, and the app stores your sign-in session in your phone's secure keychain or keystore.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and, for meaningful changes, tell you in the app. Questions: [email protected].
